Rapidash -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Rapidash Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rapidash from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Rapidash is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Rapidash does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Rear Kick, for one colorless energy card, this move does 30 damage.  Rapidash's second move is called Fire Blast, for two fire energy cards this move does 70 damage, however you must discard a fire energy card attached to Rapidash.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Rapidash is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ponyta into play (I reviewed Ponyta from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ponyta into Rapidash.  If you read yesterday's review of Ponyta, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, making the card usable early in the game or later in the game.  So knowing this about Ponyta and looking at this Rapidash card, if you are building a fire type deck, and especially if you're already including 4 Burning Energy, this is definitely a line to include in your deck.  Burning Energy and then Ponyta's move will help you get fire energy cards from the discard pile and make Fire Blast a move that you can use over and over again, and doing a significant amount of damage for only two energy cards.  Because Rapidash does discard energy, I would suggest using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very solid Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  There really isn't any downfalls with this card, both of its moves are strong, it has a solid HP, and low retreat cost.  Combine this card with Ponyta from this set, and I would give both cards a 3 out of 5 rating, and would give them a strong look when deck building.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
