Pelipper -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pelipper Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pelipper from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Pelipper is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Pelipper does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Swallow, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage, plus it heals the same amount of damage that Pelipper does to the defending Pokemon.  Pelipper's second move is called Water Pulse, this move requires four energy cards to use, three colorless and one water, and does 70 damage, plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pelipper is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Wingull into play (I reviewed Wingull from this set yesterday) and then evolve Wingull into Pelipper.  If you read yesterday's review of Wingull, you'll know that I thought it was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card.  There wasn't anything terrible about the card, it had an average HP, and a low retreat cost, it just was limited in what it could do, only having one move that could do 10 damage.  So knowing this about Wingull and looking at this Pelipper card, you could use a 1-1 line of Wingull and Pelipper in a water type deck, get Wingull into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, then evolve it into Pelipper right away, then work your way up to using Water Pulse every turn.  Water Pulse does require four energy cards to use, which is a lot, but hopefully once you get four energy cards on Pelipper and put the defending Pokemon to sleep, you can set up your benched Pokemon.  Plus, you can prolong Pelipper's presence in the active Pokemon spot by using Swallow when the defending Pokemon can be knocked out by 30 damage or less so that you can restore some HP on Pelipper.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card is pretty decent overall with an above average HP, and two good moves.  I wish Water Pulse would be a little quicker to use, but I like how both moves that Pelipper has not only do damage but do something extra, like heal Pelipper and put the defending Pokemon to sleep.  So if you're building a water type deck, I would definitely consider the line of Wingull and Pelipper from this set, together I would give them a 3 out of 5 rating.

So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Pelipper from the Roaring Skies set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Pikachu, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!
